World Wide Telescope From Microsoft Corp.
Microsoft Corp. just launched its World Wide Telescope (WWT) as a challenge to already popular Google Sky. WWT is a web based application which means you can use it without have to installing the program first on your computer, all you need is a computer, a web browser and a good internet connection ( a dial-up connection won’t do).
With the World Wide Telescope we can take a peek at the planets, stars even galaxies. The images produced by this application are not real-time images. The images are already captured by the telescopes. We can choose to see the heavenly bodies from different telescopes such as Hubble, Chandra X-Ray Observatory Center, Spitzer Space Telescope or any other space telescopes.
To bad that it loads slower than Google Sky. How ever, still it’s really amazing to see all those things millions kilometers away from us right on our computer screen. Really cool.
