Sell Your Blog?

April 28, 2008 · Filed Under Rambling

Selling an established blog or website has become an easy and quick way to make some cash. We can see this happening very often. I don’t quite understand the motive behind these acts. I mean if your blog has been making money regularly, why bother to sell it. I’m sure the owner has invested lots of resources (money, time, effort) to build the site. But, everybody has his own reason.

The most recent news in the website or domain selling world is the selling of two popular website and blog: DomainPagerank.com and WpDesigner.com. Check out what I have dugg on these two great sites.

DomainPageRank.com

This domain was sold for a whooping $11.100 through ebay. While the identity of the buyer remains unanimous, but we can see why he was that eager to spent that amount of money on a website.

According to google, domainpagerank.com has a stunning 3000 until 4000 unique visitors per month! Imagine all those potential sorce of income. Google has also given a PR 3 fro this website. If you check this domain on Alexa, it sits on the 162,194 position with visitors mostly come from The United States (27.4%) and from Nepal (19 %).

According to the description on ebay, domainpagerank.com gets its income from various sources such as Sponsor Links ($147/month), PR domain sales ($300-$900/month), ClickBank ($300-$500/month), and Coupon Code ($15-$25/month). So, was the guy made good decision by buying this site? Well, you do the math :)

FYI, people visit this blog to check the PR of a blog or website, in case you’re wondering :)

WPDesigner.com

The case for wpdesigner.com is a little bit dramatic. The blog has helped a ton of people by giving a complete and easy to follow tutorial in creating their own wordpress theme. There’s been a “love affair” created through the whole process. I, for example, really felt sad when i know that Small Potatoes was going to sell the blog. I really felt that i know hin in person especially since his funny picture is there, grinning foolishly at us.

Anyway, the blog finally change ownership. It was bought by an American who looks like American Idol’s Simon Cowell. The guy bought wpdesigner.com for a stunning $65,000!

I don’t know why he is willing to invest that amount of money. But I do know that right know, wpdesigner.com has a theme club with 1320 members who pay $5 a year.

When I checked at Alexa, it was ranked at 74,950 with 45.8% visitors come from The US. It is PR 7.

Jackbook.com

If you’re using blogger/blogspot themes, then this blog is no stranger. According to the rumors that I heard, Jacky Supit, the owner, is thinking of selling his blog also. He hasn’t mentioned any number yet, but i guess it’s going to be big also.
